Service Description

702 Trip to Hickory Run State Park Boulder Field Hosted by Susquehanna County Forest Landowners Association Join us on a guided fall excursion to the boulder fields at Hickory Run State Park. 20,000 years ago, during the last ice age, a huge glacier buried and sculpted this area. Learn about the results and history of this unique area in Pennsylvania. After a picnic lunch at the park’s office, we will visit the remains of the second largest tannery in the US during the 1800’s. Listen to the fascinating history of this site. Then we will get back on the bus to begin our trip home, but first we stop at Lacawac Sanctuary. We will visit the environmental education center, and historic structures and learn how the foundation safeguards a pristine glacial lake, diverse forest ecosystems, and wetlands. Seating is limited to 50 people. Dress for the weather and hikes over uneven terrain. More details upon registration. Deadline for registering is Sept. 25th. You may pack a lunch or order two slices of pizza with a drink. Two slices for the price of $6.00. One Monday, October 12 , meet at 7:45 am, we leave at 8 am sharp! Location: Meet at the Price Chopper parking lot, Montrose. Fee: $65 per person plus pizza slices, if not packing a lunch. Prices include the tip for the bus driver & delivery for the pizza picnic.
