Service Description

204 Going More Plant Based Instructor Jack Braunstein How do we cut through the dense jungle of nutritional advice? Do vegetarians and vegans truly lower their risk of developing some chronic diseases? If so, what key pitfalls do they need to avoid? Hint: the myth of protein deficiency isn’t one of them. In this class, we’ll explore what we can learn from the plant-forward diets of the centenarians living in the world’s “Blue Zones.” They certainly weren’t raised on today’s ultra-processed foods. Through a slideshow and discussion, we’ll examine not only the potential health benefits of eating more whole plant foods, but also the environmental and ethical questions surrounding the animal food industries. Whether you’re curious or seeking to make a meaningful lifestyle change, you’ll leave with practical ideas to eat a little healthier — one meal at a time. One Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 am Location: Community Room Susquehanna County Library, High School Road., Montrose Fee: $5.00
