101 Plien Air Painting     Instructor: Jeanne Osenbaugh, painter

The class will focus on painting from life.  We will paint outside whenever possible.  We can go inside and paint if the weather is bad.  Inside we will do a still life or an interior, always using the “Alla Prima” method of direct painting.  The students can use any medium they wish and should bring their own supplies including easels and end tables.  The instructor will be demonstrating in oils and pastels.

Four Fridays beginning September 7th at 10:00 am.

102 Acrylic and Watercolor Workshop   Instructor: Maggie Miller, painter

This class is for anyone that has painted in acrylic or watercolor before.  Please bring your own supplies and Maggie will provide individual assistance in the completion of your artwork.  There will be a shared critique at the end of class.  Class limit, 10 students

103 Learn to Draw and Paint Songbirds   Instructor: Joyce Coons, artist

In this class we will be drawing and painting 3 birds including learning three different background techniques for our paintings.  The songbirds are Northern Cardinal, American Goldfinch and Baltimore Oriole. Supplies to bring: pencil, watercolor pad 90 to 140 wt., acrylic paints. Brushes: Nylon round #6 and #12, Shader #6 and #10, Liner.  Class limit, 10 students.

104 Learn to Draw and Paint Birds of Prey   Instructor: Joyce Coons, artist

The American Bald Eagle, Rough Legged Hawk, and Snow Owl will be the drawing and painting subjects for this class. Supplies to bring: Pencil, watercolor pad 90 to 140 wt., acrylic paints, and assorted brushes (nylon). Metallic paints will be demonstrated with a Snow Owl/ Moon painting on canvas at each class. Class limit, 10 students.

105 Landscape Painting #1   Instructor: Joyce Coons, artist

In this class you will learn different techniques with brushes and sponges to create clouds, sky, trees, mountains, water, waterfalls and more. Supplies: An assortment of brushes, a palette knife, acrylic paints, and a watercolor pad 90 wt.  This is a workshop class.  Class limit, 10 students.

106 Landscape Painting #2   Instructor: Joyce Coons, artist

In this class you will apply techniques from Landscape #1. In two classes you will paint a mountain scene. In the other two classes you will paint a waterfall scene. Supplies: An assortment of brushes, a palette knife, acrylic paints, and watercolor pad 140 wt.  This is a workshop class.   Class limit, 10 students.

107 Homemade Greeting Cards   Instructor: Louise Dayton, teacher and card maker

In this class you will learn to make homemade greeting cards using stamps.  You will learn how to ink stamps and put it on card stock and color in images.  We will start with cards with one or two stamps and coloring and move to the embossing folder, dies and layering of products.  When you are finished you will have a complete card with a greeting ready to mail. You will also be able to stamp on the inside of the card. We will make 3 cards per week.  Class limit 8 students.

108    Discover the Art of Zentangle Basics   Instructor: Alice Roche, Certified Zentangle Instructor

No art experience is necessary for this class. Discover the world of Zentangle Art with a Certified Zentangle Instructor. Create beautiful and surprising art with structured patterns called tangles. Zentangle is a drawing method that inspires creativity; it is relaxing and fun and the results are unplanned and rewarding – reminding us that “Anything is possible…..One stroke at a time.”  Class limit, 8 students.

109   Advanced Zentangle Art    Instructor: Alice Roche, Certified Zentangle Instructor

Students must have previous Zentangle Basic experience.  These classes will include the tools needed for creating tangles on black tiles, the round Zendela tiles creating Mandalas, and working with colored pencils, creating gems, going beyond the original Zentangle patterns with ZIA/Zentangle Inspired Art.  Class limit, 8 students.

110    Voice Class: Learn to Sing with Confidence    Instructor: June Ely Grube, voice instructor for 30 years

A class for people who sing in choirs, sing for fun, sing in the classroom, sing at church, or sing in the rain!  No formal music lesson experience required.  The class will focus on breathing, finding your best sound, singing on pitch, and singing with expression.  You will sing simple phrases and sing familiar tunes, such as folk tunes.  There is no need to prepare an aria or other piece.  The emphasis will be finding your best vocal sound. Studies show that people who sing release endorphins that help happiness.  Singers have better posture and live longer.  Singing can also help lung and heart health!

111 Machine Quilt Applique   Instructor: Glenda Ely, quilter

This class will cover the less time-consuming techniques for machine applique.  Instruction will include discussion of appropriate materials, making pattern templates, fabric marking, preparing fabric, and placing and sewing appliques.  Each student should bring to class a sewing machine, sewing tools, several coordinating fabric remnants or fat quarters and matching thread.  Also, black thread, one yard of background fabric and a school glue stick.  In later classes a small iron would be useful. Participants should be familiar with sewing. Applique newbies are welcome.  Class Limit, 6 students.

112 Collage Quilting – Cornucopia/Sewing Machine    Instructor: Barbara Merritt, quilter

Collage Quilting has become very popular recently.  This is a one-day workshop in which you will make a collage wall-hanging quilt of a cornucopia or a sewing machine – your choice. A $10.00 kit is required, and additional details and instructions will be provided prior to the class.

113 Fabric Christmas Ornaments    Instructor: Jayne Stoll, craftsperson

Learn how to create a wreath, snowflake and star ornaments by weaving, folding and hand stitching holiday fabrics. Quick and easy projects – no sewing machine required.  All materials will be supplied. Bring your lunch. Class limit 6 students.

114 Christmas Themed Acrylic Painting Class     Instructor: Maggie Miller, painter

In this three-hour class you will complete a Christmas Themed
painting.  Maggie will be painting along with you in a simple to
follow step by step format.  Perfect for the person that has always
wanted to try painting in acrylic or has never painted before.  All
the supplies you will need are included in the materials fee.  Just
come have fun and go home with a painting that you can proudly hang
on your wall or give as a gift.
