101 Pine Needle Basket Making      Instructors: Jane Jerauld and Pam Oleniacz, Basket Makers

The class will teach how to begin a small oval pine needle basket and will cover the three basic stitches  to complete a basket.   A sewing  needle, artificial  sinew, a straw gauge and a bundle of pine needles will be provided.  Information will be provided on how to process pine needles.

Students will need to bring small sharp scissors and needle nose pliers or jewelry pliers.  Class limit, 15 students

102 Homemade Greeting Cards, Instructor: Louise Dayton, Teacher and Card Maker

In this class you will learn how to make homemade greeting cards using stamps, embossing folders, dies and DS Paper.  Ink color to match card stock.  We will do cards with two plus layers, ribbon & embellishments.  There will be no project too hard for even a beginner to do with my help.   You will have 3 cards per week and at end of session you will have a card ready to mail to someone.  We will do fall, Thanksgiving and holiday cards.

Class limit : 10 students.

103 Discover the Art of Zentangle Basics   Instructor: Alice Roche, Certified Zentangle Instructor

No Art experience is necessary for this class.  Discover the world of Zentangle with a Certified Zentangle Teacher.  Create beautiful and surprising art with structured patterns called tangles.   Zentangle is a drawing method that inspires creativity; it is relaxing and fun and the results are unplanned and rewarding reminding us that “Anything is possible….One stroke at a time.”

Class limit: 8 students

104 Advanced Zentangle Art   Instructor: Alice Roche, Certified Zentangle Instructor

Students must have basic Zentangle experience.  This class will include the tools/tiles needed for creating tangles on black tiles, and using other tiles learning dew drops and all the special Zentangle enhancements with various tangles.

Class limit, 8 students

105 Quilling Fun!    Instructor: Alice Roche, Crafts-person   This class is full

Learn quilling techniques to create various basic shapes to use for decorating cards, picture frames, decorative boxes or ornaments.  We have an abundance of quilling paper and your material fee will cover your quilling tool, mat and all the paper you need for practice and projects.

106 Acrylic and Watercolor Workshop  Instructor, Maggie Miller  This class is full

 

This class is for acrylic and watercolor painters. Please bring your own supplies and reference photos. I will help you in your composition and the painting techniques needed to complete your piece of art.

107 Acrylic Painting, Winter Scene     Instructor: Maggie Miller, Painter

I will be painting along with you so even if you have never painted before you will be going home with a completed painting of a winter scene.  All supplies are included in the cost. Feel free to bring your own snacks to enjoy while painting and having fun with old and new friends.

108 Basic Portrait Sketching #1   Instructor: Joyce Coons, Artist  This class is full.

We will learn beginning drawing and anatomy of features: eyes, mouth, face shapes, hair, and shadowing for portrait drawing.  Supplies: please bring standard drawing sketch paper, two graphite pencils 2B and 2H, an eraser, 2 charcoal sticks, Also 1 Sharpie pen, extra fine point.

Beginning drawing of the head and applying features on the correct spacing to each other to develop likeness, age, expression and final tones of light and dark. 110 Draw and Paint Animals #3  Instructor: Joyce Coons, Artist

We will be drawing and painting several animals. We will learn to make fur, shadowing, and using the correct brush for the best effects. Please bring the following supplies to class: Acrylic paints, a watercolor pad (140 LB.), assorted  brushes, a Filbert Comb Brush 3/8 or ½  (Brand – Premiere $3.00 @ACMoore)

111 Landscape Painting #3   Instructor: Joyce Coons, Artist

In two classes we will create a winter scene with a barn and stonewall and in two classes we will create a colorful fall scene with a road pathway. Please bring the following supplies to class: Acrylic paints, watercolor pad ( 140 lb.), and assorted brushes.

112 Watercolor Painting Workshop   Instructor: Cindy Reynolds, Instructor and Painter   This class is full

This is a class for watercolor painters at all levels whether you are a beginner or a seasoned painter.  Cindy will present drawing and watercolor techniques in a workshop type atmosphere and will provide individual assistance as needed.  Individuals will receive instruction as needed and will have time to work on their own paintings.  There will be a group critique and share time at the end of each session.  Class limit:  15 students to allow for individual attention

113 The Song Goes On     Instructor:  Jean Grube, Voice Instructor

A class for people who sing in choirs, sing for fun, sing in the classroom, sing at church, or sing in the rain!  No formal music lesson experience required.  The class will focus on breathing, finding your best sound, singing on pitch, and singing with expression. Some music-reading skills will be incorporated. You will sing simple phrases and sing familiar tunes, such as folk tunes.  The emphasis will be finding your best vocal sound. Studies show that people who sing release endorphins that help happiness.  Singers have better posture and live longer.  Singing can also help lung and heart health!

A wooly tree is an easy to make winter decoration using wool felt.  No sewing is required.  Bring a pair of sharp fabric scissors and everything else is supplied for $5. See Montrose Adult School Facebook page for a photo of the project.

115 Machine Finished Hand Applique    Instructor Barbara Merritt, Quilter  This class is full

If you love the look of hand Appliqué, but just don’t have the time to do the stitching, or lack confidence in your hand stitching ability, this may be the course for you.  Learn how to cut, prepare, and finally machine stitch beautiful finished edges on your Appliqué using your sewing machine and a few readily available tools.  Class requires a working sewing machine with a zig zag stitch, small iron and ironing pad, and small paper and fabric scissors, as well as the kit and pattern noted.  Further instructions will be provided to class participants prior to class.

116 Learn to Knit   Instructor Bruce Baessler, knitting enthusiast  This class is full

In this class you will learn the basic steps of knitting from beginning to end. Learn to cast on, (put the yarn on the needles),  the two basic knitting stitches (Knit and Purl), and how to cast off or take the work off the needles.

At the end of the class you will have mastered the basic skills of knitting. You will hopefully have a scarf to wear and to show off. The instructor will provide you with a list of materials to bring to the class.
