A Pysanky is a Ukrainian Easter egg. Using the Ukrainian wax and dye method you will learn to decorate eggs in their traditional Easter celebration. All tools, dyes and eggs will be provided. Class limit: 20 students.

102 Homemade Greeting Cards       Instructor, Louise Dayton,Teacher and Card Maker

In this class you will learn to stamp, dry embossing, using watercolor and using dyes. You will learn to match the ink color with the card stock. We will do 2 and 3 layers with embellishments. We will be completing 3 cards per week.. All of the cards will be different from our previous classes. The cards we will be working on will be Spring and Summer themed. Class limit: 10 students.

Create the basic shapes of Quilling and learn  many tips to help you create a variety of items for decorating cards, picture frames and various ornaments.

No art experience is necessary for this class. Discover the world of Zentangle with a Certified Zentangle Teacher.  Create beautiful and surprising art with structured patterns called tangles. Students must have basic Zentangle experience. This class will include the tools and tiles needed for creating tangles on black tiles.  We will be using other tiles creating Dingbatz and learning Dew Drops and the special Zentangle enhancements with various tangles. Class limit 8 students.

This is a class for watercolor painters at all levels, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned painter.  Cindy will present drawing and watercolor techniques in a workshop type atmosphere and will provide individual assistance as needed.  Individuals will receive instruction as needed and will have time to work on their own paintings. Make a 7 inch x 10 inch frameable “stained -glass” picture with flowers made out of fabric, ribbon and glue.  Pattern and instructions, sample and materials will be supplied for the seven steps.Students should bring: small scissors to cut fabric and a Sharpie pen (fine point). This roomy bag (18 inch by 25 inch) is ideal for carrying your current “Work in Progress” or even serve as an overnight bag.  The wooden handles make it comfortable to use. Before class you will receive a supply and equipment list with instructions to prepare for the class.   You will be ready to cut the bag pieces and machine sew at the workshop. Not for beginner sewers. Class limit: 8 students.Bring your lunch.

117 Cathedral Window Quilts – Fun and Done!  Instructor Barbara Merritt, Quilter

The Cathedral Window Quilt is a traditional pattern dating to ancient times in Korea and China, and adapted to “modern” quilts in 1933. It is unique, in that there is no final quilting of backing, batting and quilt top. The block itself forms all three layers as it is created. In this class you will learn the traditional hand-quilted method, and then we will move on to a truly modern machine-sewing process. We will be making a mug rug and/or table topper, all in one day! Fun and Done! A supply list will be provided to all registered attendees prior to class. Class limit 12 students. Bring your lunch.

118 Pine Needle Basket Making    Instructor Jane Jerauld, Basket Maker

This class will teach the basics of pine needle basket making by starting with an oval or round basket and three basic stitches to complete a basket. Anyone who completed the previous class will be accommodated with more advanced stitches. Students will learn to process pine needles. A sewing needle, artificial sinew, a gauge and a bundle of needles will be provided. Students will need to bring small sharp scissors and needle nose or jewelry pliers.

Class limit: 15 students.

This class is for experienced basket makers. Everyone will make the same basket, a double walled basket formed on a mold. Basic basket making tools are required. Because of the materials used material fee is $25.00 payable to the instructor at the first class.

120 Knitting in the British Isles   Instructor: Jordan Oakey, Knitter

This class is for students who already have a basic knowledge of knitting.  Students will learn the historical knitting traditions of the British Isles including Fair Isle color-work, Shetland lace, and Aran Cables.  Students will learn techniques and knit swatches of stitch patterns, and will be able to create garments and accessories with these patterns. A list of the materials you will need will be sent prior to class.

You will learn the basic steps of knitting from beginning to end. Learn to cast on, the two basic knitting stitches, knit and pearl, and how to cast off or take the work off the needles.

At the end of the class you will have mastered the basic skills of knitting. You will then be able to complete a scarf to wear and show off. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided.

 Adapted from private instruction and college offering, this course is designed to help hobbyists either start playing or enjoy their playing more. Lessons combine core concepts with songs to cover the foundations of guitar in a fun and useful manner. Lessons cover: chords, strumming,  fingerstyle, common chord progressions, and common scales. Additional topics such as soloing may be covered depending on the individual interests of the students enrolled. Instrument required, acoustic strongly suggested over electric.
