501 Pennsylvania’s Revolutionary Ironmasters   Instructor Dan Graham

We are about to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.  In the spring of 1775, the battles of Lexington and Concord were fought.  The following June, the Pennsylvania Assembly passed a defense bill that called for raising a militia, fortifying Philadelphia, and manufacturing gunpowder and arms.  The Pennsylvania ironmasters were among the earliest supporters in America’s fight for independence.  They were producing cannon, shot and shell for America’s Independence before the signing of the Declaration.  The class will discuss their contributions.
